Premier Win For Howard

Last Saturday night saw the Super Rods take to Warrnambool’s Sungold Stadium Premier Speedway where it was Andrew Howard who secured the win ahead of Howard Stansfield and Darryl Nelson.

In the first heat of the night it was Nelson who took an all the way win ahead of Stansfield with Tanner home in third. Howard was the victor in heat two when he led home Ewan McKenzie and Nelson, this heat was not without incident when the car of Paul Verhoeven rolled after making contact with another car.  Heat three saw Jason Kavanagh collect the win ahead of Howard and Troy Gleeson.

The line up for the final saw Howard from position one with Nelson on his outer, they were followed by Stansfield, Kavanagh, McKenzie, Neville Gange, Quentin Tanner, Gleeson, Duynhoven and George Woolstencroft.

From the drop of the green it was Howard who made the best of the starts leading away from Nelson, Stansfield and McKenzie. Stansfield was able to move into second the following lap with the top four cars putting on some great racing. In lap twelve the race came to a caution when the car of Gleeson spun.

Howard led away from the restart and was never headed when he greeted the checker first ahead of Stansfield with Nelson home in third, they were followed by, McKenzie, Gange, Tanner, Kavanagh, Gleeson and Duynhoven.

The next meeting for Super Rods will be on Saturday 24th of February at Mount Gambier’s Borderline Speedway.
