Walsh Wins At Simpson
Last Saturday night saw the Super Rods in action at Heytesbury Stock Feeds Simpson Speedway where it was Shaun Walsh who greeted the checker first ahead of Quentin Tanner and Jason Kavanagh.
In the first heat of the night it was Kavanagh who took an all the ways win leading home Walsh with Tanner home in third. Heat two saw some close racing with Tanner claiming the win with Walsh home second and Peter Duynhoven rounding out the top three.
The line up for the final saw Kavanagh and Walsh making up the front row, while Tanner and Duynhoven made up row two, they were followed by Paul Verhoeven, Neville Gange, Troy Hose, Zac Farrer and Paul Singleton.
With the weather taking a turn for the worse and the Super Rods on the grid for the final, the rain set in and the first attempt at a start was abandoned. After the rain passed and a fantastic effort from the track crew to bring the track back to a raceable condition.
The cars back on the track drivers had to adapt to the slippery conditions seeing two false starts. It was Walsh who made the most of the start with Tanner and Kavanagh in hot pursuit. Walsh continued to lead the charge with Tanner working at narrowing the gap. At the fall of the Checker it was Walsh who was never headed claiming the win ahead of Tanner and Kavanagh, they were followed by Farrer, Gange and Singleton.
The Super Rods next meeting will be this Saturday 8th of December at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway.
