Laang Win for Coad
The Super Rods took to Laang Speedway for round two of the Super Rod Shootout sponsored by Adzweld/Max & Pam Wines Agricultural. It was Michael Coad in the Nastasi racing machine who secured victory when he led home Ewan McKenzie and Howard Stansfield.
In the first heat of the night it was an all the ways win for Stansfield leading home Andrew Howard and Jason Kavanagh. Coad took a green to checker win in the second heat ahead of Kavanagh and Howard.
Jason Grayland secured the win in the third heat when he led home David Duynhoven and Kavanagh. In the final heat of the night it was McKenzie who claimed a flag to flag win ahead of Sally Woolstencroft and Coad rounding out the top three.
The line up for the 20 lap final saw Coad and Kavanagh making up the front row, they were followed by McKenzie, Stansfield, David Duynhoven, Woolstencroft, Neville Gange, Rob Farrer, Amy Duynhoven and Howard who sustained a broken driveline in his own car behind in the wheel of the Grayland car.
At the fall of the green it was Coad who led the field away from McKenzie, Kavanagh and Stansfield. The top three cars put on some tight racing McKenzie endeavoured to find a way forward but Coad was able to maintain his lead and make a slight break when they encountered lapped traffic. Stansfield also joined the fray and was able to make his way into third past Kavanagh.
Coad went on to greet the checker first with McKenzie hot on his heels, they were followed by Stansfield Kavanagh, David Duynhoven, Howard, Gange, Woolstencroft, Farrer and Amy Duynhoven. The Super Rod Shootout was won by Andrew Howard who secured the highest points over the two nights of competition.
