Super Rod Presentation Dinner

The night featured Gavin White as emcee who presented a short history of four Super Rod drivers from within the class with a 98 combined years of racing between them. Those drivers were Ewan McKenzie with a total of 17 years, which included an 18 year gap. Darryl Nelson who started in with a total of 32 years. Howard Stansfield with 26 years of racing, And George Woolstencroft with 23 years of racing. President Neil Podger also read a history on the racing of Portland’s Bill Campbell for whom the class hold a memorial each year at the Portland’s Southern 500 raceway.


In the Super Rod Aggregate it was Lancefield's Shaun Walsh who topped the point score with 1292 ahead of Inverleigh's Corey Deglaitis second on 1088 and Cobden's Leigh Podger third with 927 points.


The 2016 Super Rod Association Rookie of the year award went to Paul Verhoeven with 208 points ahead of Jim Gronbeck on 142, Geoff Long on 112 and Peter Bodger 111.


The most improved driver award went to Troy Gleeson with Geoff Long receiving the association’s encouragement award. Corey Deglaitis was the recipient of the Unluckiest Driver award after a number of accidents throughout the season causing substantial damage.


The Super Rod Association will hold their Annual General Meeting on Sunday 14th of August at 1pm at the Camperdown RSL Hall, Pike Street, Camperdown.
