Howard home at Simpson

Saturday 16th of January saw the Super Rods at Heytesbury Stockfeed’s Simpson Speedway, with Andrew Howard greeting the chequer first to take the win ahead of Corey Deglaitis and Ken Baynes. In the first heat of the night it was Allan Pitcher who was leading the way, however as he went to complete the second lap Pitcher spun with Darryl Nelson, Ken Baynes and Corey Deglaitis unable to avoid the carnage with the latter flipping his car on its lid. It was Shaun Walsh who was able to lead for the remainder of the race to take the win ahead of Ewan McKenzie and Howard. Heat two was also drama filled when Michael Coad looped his car in front of the field sustaining heavy contact and eliminating him from the race. At the restart it was Richardson who led for the first three laps before being over taken by Deglaitis. On lap five contact between McKenzie and Walsh saw Walsh’s car towed from the track with rear axle damage. From then on it was Deglaitis who went on to take the win ahead of Pitcher and Jim Gronbeck. It was a green to checker win in the final heat of the night for Andrew Howard winning ahead of Baynes and George Woolstencroft. The line-up for the final saw Howard from pole position with Baynes on his outside, they were followed by Woolstencroft, Deglaitis, Pitcher, McKenzie, Richardson, Falkingham, Peter Duynhoven and Paul Verhoeven. With Bodger unable to make the final after sustaining engine damage. Howard led away from the start with Baynes, Deglaitis and Woolstencroft in hot pursuit, on lap two Deglaitis was able to move up one position into second ahead of Baynes, the leaders continued in this fashion until the fall of the chequered flag with Howard taking a comfortable win ahead of Deglaitis, Baynes, McKenzie, Pitcher, Woolstencroft, Richardson, Duynhoven, Falkingham and Verhoeven.   The next meeting for Super Rods will see them take to Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway Sungold Stadium where they will support the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic with Super Rods in attendance on Friday and Saturday nights with a limited amount of cars to compete
