Simpson Win for Shawn Duynhoven

The Super Rod’s took to Heytesbury Stockfeed’s Simpson Speedway last Saturday night where Geelong’s Shawn Duynhoven took the final honours, Shawn led home Andrew Howard and Michael Coad


In the first heat of the night it was Shawn Duynhoven who took the win ahead of Grant Stansfield and George Woolstencroft. Heat two was taken out by Leigh Podger who led home recently crowned Super Rod champion Coad with Shawn Duynhoven rounding out the top three. Howard was the victor in the third heat when he led home Michael Cunningham and Peter Duynhoven.


The final grid saw Shawn Duynhoven and Howard making up the front row, they were followed by Podger, Cunningham, Coad, Grant Stansfield, Peter Duynhoven, Woolstencroft, Corey Deglaitis, Troy Gleeson, Tyson Benson and Amy Duynhoven. While Howard Stansfield was unable to take his place in the final after suffering brake issues and Shaun Walsh who sustained engine damage.


It was Howard who made the best of the starts leading away from Shawn Duynhoven, Podger, Cunningham and Stansfield. The cars of Howard and Shawn Duynhoven continued to duel for the first position, with the battle for the minors taking place amongst Podger, Coad and Stansfield. Howard was able to break away from the pursing cars, however with two laps remaining Howard slowed while coming out of turn two allowing Shawn Duynhoven into the lead and continuing on to take the checker ahead of Howard, Coad, Podger, Stansfield, Deglaitis, Cunningham, Peter Duynhoven, Woolstencroft, Gleeson and Benson.


The next meeting for the Super Rods will be at Darlington’s Mid-Western Speedway on Saturday 7th of May.
