Mt Gambier Goes To Court

The Super Rods travelled to Mt Gambier’s Borderline Speedway for night two of the Max Dumesny Motorsports Super Rod Easter Trail, where it was Hamilton’s Dane Court who was the victor ahead of Jacob Pitcher and Jamie May.

The first heat of the night saw Stan Marco Jnr claim the win ahead of Neville Gange and Paul Verhoeven. It was a green to checker win for Jacob Pitcher in heat two when he led home Jason Kavanagh and May. Kavanagh claimed the final heat win of the night when he led home Court and Jacob Pitcher.

The grid for the final saw Kavanagh and Jacob Pitcher making up the front row, they were followed by Stan Marco Jnr, Court, Gange, May, Peter Duynhoven, Howard Stansfield, Bailey Pitcher, George Woolstencroft and Jamie Ackland. While Verhoeven was unable to start after an engine detonation and Stan Marco Snr with gremlins in his car.

Jacob Pitcher made the best of the starts leading away from Kavanagh, Court and May. With the lead pair making a slight break Kavanagh maintained heavy pressure on the leader. In lap four the race came to a caution when the car of Ackland stopped on the track. From the restart it was again Jacob Pitcher setting the pace ahead of Kavanagh, Court and May.

As the lead pack started to encounter lapped traffic in lap 10 the car of Kavanagh made contact with Woolstencroft leaving the later stricken on the track with front end damage, with stewards deeming Kavanagh the primary cause of the incident.

The restart saw Jacob Pitcher leading away from Court, May, Stan Marco Jnr and Gange. With Court in pursuit of the leader and applying heavy pressure with Jacob Pitcher’s car bicycling and allowing Court to seize his opportunity. Jacob Pitcher did not let this set back deter him and set in pursuit of the leader Court hoping to regain the lead. At the drop of the checker, it was Court who secured the win over Jacob Pitcher and May home in third, they were followed by Stan Marco Jnr, Gange, Stansfield, Bailey Pitcher, Kavanagh and Duynhoven.
