Walsh King of the Bullring

The Super Rod’s took to Darlington’s Mid-Western Speedway last Saturday night for the running of the King of the Bullring where Shaun Walsh took the win in the Grayland racing machine with current Victorian champion Michael Coad second and Corey Deglaitis rounding out the top three.


The night started with a Tribute to Harry Grayland, father of Mortlake club member Jason Grayland, after Harry passed away the night before after a short illness.


In the first heat of the night it was Walsh with the win ahead of Deglaitis and Grayland. Heat two it was Coad with an all the ways win ahead of Deglaitis and Robert Richardson in third. The final heat of the night Walsh won his second heat of the night ahead of Grayland and Coad.


The line-up for the final saw Walsh out of pole position with Coad on his outside, they were followed by Deglaitis, Grayland, Richardson, Cunningham, Amy Duynhoven and Daniel Cumming.


From the green it was Walsh and Coad who fought hard into the first turn however Coad washed high exiting turn two allowing Walsh to take the lead, Walsh was able to find clear air leaving an enthralling battle between Deglaitis and Coad with the pair changing positions a number of times.


In the last few laps Coad was able to move clear of Deglaitis and started to apply pressure on the leader. At the fall of the checker it was Walsh taking the win from Coad followed by Deglaitis, Grayland, Richardson, Cunningham, Cumming and Duynhoven.


The Super Rods will return to Darlington’s Mid-Western Speedway on the 21st of May for the running of the Col Grist Memorial.
