Gange Takes Laang Win

The Super Rods took to Laang Speedway last Saturday night where they contested round 2 of the M & P Wines/Adzweld Super Rod Shoot out and round 2 of the Western Cup Series. It was Colac’s Neville Gange who secured his maiden feature win when he led home Lancefield’s Shaun Walsh and Laang’s Troy Gleeson.

 

In the first heat of the night it was a flag to flag win for Jason Kavanagh when he led home Walsh and Gleeson. Heat two went the way of Walsh when he led home Gleeson and Gange rounding out the top three.

 

Verhoeven was the victor in heat three leading home Jamie May with Gleeson home in third.  Gange took a strong win in the final heat of the night when he led home Zac Farrer and Verhoeven.

 

The final line up saw Walsh and Gange making up the front row, they were followed by Gleeson, Verhoeven, Kavanagh, Farrer, George Woolstencroft and Paul Singleton.

From the drop of the green it was Gange who made his way into the lead with Walsh and Gleeson in pursuit. With Walsh applying heavy pressure to the leader it was Gleeson who seized the opportunity to mount his own challenge for second in lap five, while Gleeson moved forward, Walsh was able to reaffirm his position by the end of the lap.

 

In lap seven the race came to a caution when the cars of Woolstencroft and Farrer coming to a halt on the track. At the restart Gange led the way with the experienced Walsh looking for a way forward, however at the end of 20 laps it was Gange who was able to maintain his composure to  secure the win ahead of Walsh, Gleeson, Kavanagh, Verhoeven, Woolstencroft, Farrer and Singleton.

 

 

The next meeting for Super Rods will be on Saturday 16th of March at Portland’s Southern 500 Speedway where they will contest the Bill Campbell Memorial in conjunction with Round 3 of the Western Cup Series.
