Duynhoven Dynamic At Simpson
The Super Rods took to Heytesbury Stockfeed’s Simpson Speedway last Saturday night, it was Geelong’s Shawn Duynhoven who greeted the chequer first ahead of Andrew Howard and Ewan McKenzie.
In the first heat of the night it was Michael Coad who took the win ahead of Allan Pitcher and Duynhoven.
McKenzie was the victor in heat two in a hot pressed race with Duynhoven on his tail, with two laps remaining Coad was able to move through into second position with Duynhoven finishing third.
In the final heat of the night it was Howard taking the win ahead of Duynhoven and Coad
The starting grid for the final saw Coad starting from position one with Duynhoven on his outside, they were followed by McKenzie, Howard, Pitcher, Gleeson, Darryl Nelson, Neville Gange, Rod Smith, Sally Woolstencroft and Paul Verhoeven. With Jason Grayland succumbing to Engine issues.
Coad made the best of the starts leading away from Duynhoven, McKenzie and Howard, with Howard moving into third position the following lap. Having established a handy lead Coad was dominating the race until lap five when he spun the car and the race came to a caution.
At the restart it was Duynhoven leading the field away ahead of Howard, McKenzie, Gleeson and Pitcher. They continued on in this fashion with Howard throwing everything but the kitchen sink at Duynhoven however Duynhoven was able to thwart him at every attempt, at the fall of the flag it was Duynhoven, from Howard and McKenzie, they were followed by Gleeson, Gange, Pitcher, Coad, Nelson, Smith and Verhoeven.
The next meeting for the Super Rods will be this Saturday 10th of December at Hamilton’s Western Speedway for the running of Round 1 of The Western Cup.
