Gange Takes Anzac Cup

The Super Rods took to Heytesbury Stockfeed’s Simpson Speedway on Sunday 24th of April for the running of the Anzac cup where it was Colac’s Neville Gange who secured the win ahead of Stan Marco Jnr and Shaun Walsh.

 

In the first heat of the night it was Dane Court who secured the win ahead of Jason Kavanagh and Walsh. Heat two came to an abrupt halt when the car of Tommy Marco rolled over, but it was his brother Stan Marco Jnr who went on to secure the win ahead of Jamie May and Gange.

 

Jacob Pitcher claimed an all the ways win in the third heat when he led home Gange and Court. Stan Marco Jnr secured his second heat win of the night when he led home Walsh and May in the fourth heat.

 

The line up for the final saw Stan Marco Jnr and Court making up the front row, they were followed by Jacob Pitcher, Gange, May, Walsh, Jason Kavanagh, Stan Marco Snr, Bailey Pitcher, Daniel Hookway, George Woolstencroft, Tommy Marco, Clinten Scott, Stacey Jacko, Troy Gleeson and Jamie Ackland. Michael Coad was unable to take his position after sustaining engine damage.

 

At the drop of the green it was Stan Marco Jnr who got the best of the starts making the lead away from Court, Gange, Jacob Pitcher and May. They were able to continue in this fashion until lap nine when Gange was able to seize the lead with Bailey Pitcher moving into second in the following lap. With 15 laps remaining it was Gange from Stan Marco Jnr. In a nonstop 20 lap battle it was Gange who secured the win ahead of Stan Marco Jnr and Walsh. They were followed by May, Kavanagh, Hookway, Scott, Tommy Marco, Bailey Pitcher, Woolstencroft, Jacko and Gleeson.

  

The Super Rods will be in action next weekend on Saturday 30th of April at Laang Speedway and then on Sunday 1st of May at Mid Western Speedway Darlington for the running of the Col Grist Memorial.
